Research Task 1: Spot the Principles

To identify at least three principles of animation.

I decided to study the whole movie just to see the different principles applied in the show. I studied: LION KING 2.

I think these screenshots are examples of not only staging but also appeal. The reason I think that is because both of these are pretty minimal backgrounds, which gives the characters all the attention from the viewer by aligning with the middle aka the eye line. There inst too much of different animals either because I think that would take away the simplicity aspect and make the frames too busy, making the viewer have to look around and make the scene too busy for the pace it was going at.

In this scene, Timon jumps from Pumbas nose. As he jumps up, he accelerates himself to jump up , stretches in order to show his weight and squishes when he falls down to the ground to give the viewer the idea that he has impact when he lands due to his weight.

This here represents the idea of Exaggeration and timing. The characters moves back and forward to emphasize and give their actions a little more power, making the scene much more interesting and interactive and realistic.

An example of 'Anticipation' in a scene. While the spotlight is moved from the cubs and onto the other character, you can feel the tension growing not only in the music, but in the frame shift.

Exaggeration- An example of a exaggerated expression, really going in depth with the characters personality and making them relatable.
