It was really interesting to read 'The illusion of life , Disney animations' because it brought out so much history of animation that I wasnt even aware of. The two things that stood out to me in the book were; Using real life as a reference and dragging the frame to create a slow movement.

I referred to this book when i was interested in making animations which showed the ragged and following movement in animation. Here I tried it out on one of my expression animations. The idea is to draw multiple frames 'dragging' behind in order to show the process of movement and to give it a little more depth. It was used A LOT in the old Disney animation movies in order to show the different movement of all individual limbs but also to show the process of movement and its depth. It feels more 'relatable' and brings more life to the character.

The realization hit me that 'continuous life drawing' originated from Disney animators using real life models in order to picture how the characters would interact.
In order to move forward in animation, the studio had to think of a way to improve the movement of their animations; this meant studying living creatures to adapt their movements into the animation in order to bring familiarity into the animations; also to make the audience feel like they relate to the cartoon.
