Research task 4: Expression animations

20289273

I wanted to compare a 2D to a 3D movie in terms of emotion. Mainly because what helps the expressions of an animated character, is its shadows and lightning which the top gif lacks, yet it still manages to put its point across very well.

I really like maximus as an example because he displays just as much emotions as elsa despite not being a human. I think his possession of the eyebrows / Eyebrow bone help him express his emotions, plus he was a very important character who communicated only through emotions considering he couldnt speak. As for elsa, I think her expressions are very important because it gives the viewer an idea of how shes feeling, considering she doesnt open up herself very much. The animators had to take that into consideration to make her a emotionally displayed character. She couldnt say much, but had to display it.
