RHYTHM:
“Rhythm is the repetition or alternation of elements, often with defined intervals between them. Rhythm can create a sense of movement, and can establish pattern and texture.”
EXAMPLES OF RHYTHM:
This poster is an example of a progressive poster. The eye instantly catches onto the food on the right that runs up and down the page, and its something that stands out the most due to the contrast of colours. On the right, the artist selected minimum writing and a certain scale so the viewer would instantly spot the food, that being the main ‘catch’ and the main ‘attention’ that the creator wanted to present, but did not want it to be taken away by chunky writing or clustered caption besides it. The shape of the images are also unusual, giving the pictures a more appealing look - its also a smart play to not make the pictures clustered. The colours of the images are arranged in a certain way where the more in depth colours are on top and it scales down to feel more lighter.

This is a great example of what a ‘regular’ layout is like. The shapes and layout is very clear for the reader to see and it has a rectangular structure which is very clear and a usual layout so the reader gets an easy read. The caption is bold and stands out the most,as the writer wants to captivate the reader into the title which is on purpose, made crazy sounding , so despite the much smaller writing which is irrelevant - because as soon as the reader is captivated by the big, bold writing then the story is irrelevant. The layout of the writing is very important to make it look like it weighs the same on all sides.

This poster is a very clear example of ‘flowing’. The idea behind a flowing layout is the idea of movement throughout the image which can almost ‘hypnotise’ the reader. The waves besides the face are different shapes, expressing the width and the impact on the image. The dots on the face are outlining each principle of the face, giving it a more realistic look without any shading or lighting but still showing the idea of movement throughout the image. The colours are very effective in a way that the blue overcomes the pink, being a dominant colour and first catching the viewer's eye before then showing all the complicated patterns.
