STEVE PYKE

Steve pyke is a photographer that originated from Leicester, United Kingdom. He focuses on the faces of the creators and artists. He is known for his intense monochrome photography of portaits. He is known and describes to be an artists that enjoys capturing faces of different people and capturing their identity and 'history' in their face. "The human face signals our emotions, suggests our cultural background. It is the naked part that we present to the world. Our faces speak realms about our identity."

Steve often travels to photograph people of crazy experiences, and whilst photographing them, they ask them to tell their stories which is how he manages to capture the person in the picture, whilst talking about what made them them.

After watching the interview;

Steve mentions that through his photography, he communicates with people and even says that shooting isnt even apart of getting to know his subjects. He values the improtance of conversations and holds it higher than the actual photoshoot.

Steve mentioned that the big thinkers, often werent very popular and nobody knew who they were. He wanted to bring them 'public identity' and change that. He also wanted to show how they had a certain look,and called them 'the big thinkers'.


 

BILL VIOLA


Bill Viola was born in New york, america and is a photographer that focuses on video art. He has been focusing on instillations, films, sound environments, flat panel video pieces, and works for concerts, opera, and sacred spaces for over four decades. Bill explores the subjects of life and death,the human condition, spiritualism and the development of consciousness. His images often make the viewer stop and observe it, almost like it was a 'spiritual' experience or a emotionally moving piece. This video shows just how emotionally connective his work can become. Many of his works are for theater art to symbolise meanings.


 

ANNIE LEIBOVITZ


Annie leibovitz is a photographer that was born in Waterbury, CT. She is a photographer that has captured many celebrities and many fashion magazenes. She works with the idea of 'intimacy' and 'involvement' with her art subject. On many times, Annie would quote how she wants to become closer with the person she is capturing, and would rarely photograph strangers or people she didnt know. Her work focuses on the setting just as well as the person and many times tries to capture the intimacy and intenseness of an emotion, like in this video of her photographing an "angel" for vouge.
