1. Marble statue and Jesus
After my illustration project, I have been really inspired to create 'biblical' themed digital collages with a splash of 'modern' photographs. I like how the artwork clashes with the modern quality of the oranges. Originally I edited a 'marble statue' ,inspired by the famous Jesus christ painting by Svitozar Nenyuk . But seeing how it felt out of place, I decided to use the painting and it turned out much more aesthetically pleasing,considering the first one seemed like it lacked.
2. Mother Mary and burger
I was inspired by my own burger at the time,and figured the positioning would be perfect.Later I added the 'burger king' crown because with the hands, it looked a little empty. I proceeded to add a 'noise' effect in order to blend the images while keeping the 'modern' effect. This piece was my aim at doing something a little more silly rather than 'meaningful' like my other pieces, and yet it has turned out to be my favorite piece.
3. Angels
Continuing with my correlation to my bible lore work from illustration, I was really interested in making a collage based on the angels of the bible lore. Cherubs were known as 'unearthly beings' - While they arent specified as angels, many people think of their typical form when thinking of an 'angel' ... When in reality, the real form of an angel is much more closer to a 'demonic' form if anything. The filtered illustrations of an 'accurate' angel according to the bible has been placed on the background, comparing them to just how different they are against the cherubs. For the eyes, I really wanted them to look surprised,and instead of searching up a random expression, I decided to use the popes eyes just so the symbolism and connection stays.
4. Jonghyun
This was more of a dedication piece to a late song artist who meant a lot to me. Since I wanted to try floral and flowers,seeing how popular that is in digital collage, I wanted it to make sense - So I picked white flowers to not only contrast the bright orange colours,but to match the hair. Im not entirely proud of this piece as this was my first digital collage and I was mainly experimenting with scale,pose ,filters etc.
5. God over city
Here I put together a 'modern' city along with the famous painting by Giovanni Battista Cima. I just figured that aesthetically, it would work really well because the scale fits and I like the way god is looking down as if he is 'protecting' the city. Though it isnt my favorite.
6. Ocean rocket
At the time, I was watching a episode about space and decided to try and step out of the 'bible' correlation and do something to do with space. After finding the perfect image, I watched the next episode about the ocean and decided to combine the two ideas together; Ocean and space, Far apart and yet they have the same sense of 'depth' and the 'unknown' . I really liked the idea of animals swimming in space, and it gives it a certain aesthetic to have opposites align.
