researching poster ideas

20289273

Here are list of artists and their poster creations that have drawn me the most, I will explain below why exactly I was drawn to them.

I was very intrigued by Jung's posters mainly because of his focus on the portrait aspect of his subjects. Most of his posters take half of the page, leaving space for the text which add more proportion to the image. I liked the idea of his background usage against his facial paintings and its something I want to experiment in my own drawings and practices.

Hirschfeld's cartoon style and the color relationship grabbed my attention almost instantly as his posters remind me of a vintage movie that would play in theaters instead of cinemas.A lot of his work focuses on the linework of the characters and a minimal color palette that works against each other to create an attention grabbing poster and something 'different' from the usual arts. It also gives of a playful and mysterious vibe, which can often play a huge part in the mystery of the plot which makes people more intrigued to see it.

The style of these posters ,once again caught my attention for being more unusual than the realistic style most of the posters are, which of course catches the eye much faster for standing out. Davis's caricature style of art has been popular since and mainly around 18th century, when artists began to experiment and exaggerate the proportions of their characters.I was interested to see the alignment and layout of davis's posters to see how his style would fit.

After studying perspective drawing, I was mostly interested in experimenting 3D texts and their layout, Chantrell's posters mainly stood out in my research ,especially seeing how his text is the piece of art that 'stands out' in the poster, getting straight to the point with its shape, colours and size.
