After experimenting in my book with multiple designs and techniques, I have settled to finish it digitally. I used my brushes that would allow the somewhat flat canvas to feel full of life as the brushes I used were quite textured. I have printed it out and worked on it with some pencils and charcoal to give the book a ”childlike” feel to it - as if it was a colouring book. After my research, I began to really think about the meaning of ‘fear’ for children. I came to think that its not always big scary figures, or unexplainable entities. Sometimes its just the tiny creature that can feel so overwhelming and terrifying that a child thinks it’s much more dangerous; for example, spider. As for the text, I wanted it to give the rush of danger. I do think that if it was a full book, it would make the child read more, anxiously awaiting on what would happen next.
